It's that time of year again—the whirlwind of university admissions is in full swing, and if you're a student, I know the mix of excitement and anxiety is real. For the upcoming 2025-26 academic session, there's a lot happening, especially at major universities like CCSU Meerut and CRSU Jind. We're seeing everything from brand-new, future-focused syllabi to nail-biting merit lists and some last-minute deadline changes you’ll want to know about.

Key Highlights

  • Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) is launching a brand-new syllabus for BA and BSc courses for the 2025-26 session, aligned with NEP 2020.
  • ✓ BSc students at CCSU will get to specialize in cutting-edge fields like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science in their seventh semester.
  • ✓ Due to the Kanwar Yatra, the undergraduate registration deadline for CCSU and its affiliated colleges has been extended to July 25.
  • Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU) in Jind has released its first merit list, with the BBA General category cut-off reaching a high of 80.68%.
  • ✓ While some CCSU courses are seeing high demand, overall UG registrations are under 100,000, with some courses like BA Sanskrit Honors having only 8 applicants for 30 seats.

A Major Syllabus Overhaul at CCSU

Let's start with the big news out of Meerut. Chaudhary Charan Singh University has officially rolled out a completely new syllabus for its BA and BSc programs, starting with the 2025-26 batch. This isn't just a minor tweak; it's a full-on revamp designed to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The courses now also fall under the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which is a significant change.

So, what does this actually mean for students? Well, the structure is a lot more flexible. You can now earn credentials as you go: finish one year and you get a certificate, complete two years for a diploma, and after three years, you earn your degree. For those who are really passionate about their subject, there’s an option to pursue "Honors with Research" by staying on for a fourth year, which is fantastic for anyone eyeing a future in academia or R&D.

Here’s something that really caught my eye. Recognizing how fast the world is changing, CCSU is making a smart move with its Bachelor of Computer Science program. In the seventh semester, students will have the chance to specialize in high-demand fields like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and Data Science. This is a huge deal because it means graduates will be walking out with skills that are immediately relevant in today's job market.

💡 What's Interesting: While overall UG registrations at CCSU are surprisingly low, traditional courses at government-aided colleges have seen applications outnumber seats by two to three times. It seems students still have a strong preference for established courses at public institutions.

The Admissions Race: Deadlines and Low Turnout

Now, let's talk about the logistics of getting in. If you've been putting off your application for CCSU or its affiliated colleges, you just got a lucky break. The university has extended the online registration deadline for undergraduate first-year classes to July 25. The original deadline was July 20, but it was pushed back to accommodate students impacted by the Kanwar Yatra.

Despite this extension, the registration numbers so far have been a bit concerning. For all undergraduate courses combined, the total number of applications hasn't even crossed the one lakh mark yet. Looking closer at the data for the CCSU campus and its colleges, there are 1,589 seats available across various programs, but only 5,236 registrations have been completed. This shows that while some courses are popular, many are struggling to attract students.

Some courses are seeing particularly low interest. For example, BA Urdu has only 15 registrations for 30 seats, BSc Home Science has 14 for 30 seats, and BA Sanskrit Honors has just 8 applicants for its 30 seats. Even newer courses like the Diploma in Indian Folk Art have only 2 registrations for 11 spots. It seems private colleges, in particular, are having a tough time filling their seats this year. Once the registration window closes, the university is expected to release the first merit list by July 30.

Relief for Students in Hapur

This deadline extension is especially good news for students in Hapur. If you're hoping to get into one of the city's two main colleges, SSV PG College or A.K.P. PG College, you now have until July 25 to complete your online registration. It's a welcome bit of breathing room for many.

The Principal of SSV College, Prof. Naveen Chandra Singh, has made it clear that this is the final extension. He stated, "The university has now extended the registration date to July 25. There will be no registration after this." So, if you're planning to apply, this is your last chance. For context, SSV College offers 480 seats in BA and 120 in BSc Math, while A.K.P. College offers 480 seats in BA and 60 in BCom.

High Stakes at CRSU: The First Merit List is Out!

Over at Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU) in Jind, the admission process is a step ahead. The university has already released its first merit list for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses for the 2025-26 session. While PG admissions were based on a written test, the UG list is based on academic merit. And let me tell you, the competition is fierce.

The cut-offs are quite high, especially for popular courses. For the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the General category cut-off is an impressive 80.68%. The cut-offs for other categories are also competitive: EWS at 78.20%, BCA at 73.06%, and SC at 67.82%. For the five-year integrated BA LLB (Honors) program, the General cut-off stands at 64%, with the EWS and SC categories both at 60%.

If your name is on this list, you need to act fast. The deadline for document verification and fee submission is 4 PM on July 22. It’s a very tight window. According to the Public Relations Officer, Dr. Arun Kumar, you'll need to bring all your original documents, including your 10th and 12th mark sheets, income and character certificates, Haryana domicile certificate, and a gap year affidavit if applicable. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rampal Singh, also confirmed this deadline, so make sure you don't miss it!

Conclusion

So there you have it—a quick rundown of the current admissions landscape. The big takeaway is that universities are evolving, with CCSU's new, modern syllabus being a prime example of a shift towards more flexible and career-oriented education. At the same time, the admissions race remains as competitive as ever, as seen with the high cut-offs at CRSU. The low registration numbers in some areas and the deadline extension to July 25 offer a critical window of opportunity for students who are still on the fence. It's a dynamic and slightly chaotic period, but one filled with new possibilities for the next generation of graduates.
